The New and the Old

My last 2012 purchase of the year is a Riley Blake Designs fabric called Flutter by The Quilted Fish.  I am not sure what I will do with it yet.  I have been thinking about making two new runners out of it for my two youngest daughters' birthdays.  It sort of makes me think about Valentine's Day.  With one birthday on the 16th of January and the other on February 10th that actually sounds like a good idea. One of my resolutions for the new year is to finish up some of my old projects.  Over the holiday I decided to clean out and organize my studio.  I found all sorts of interesting UFO's in there.  This apron pattern and fabric was one of them.  It is all cut out, sewn together, the pockets are almost ready to sew on, and now just to cut and apply the blue bias binding.
I hope you all enjoy a safe and peaceful end of 2012 and welcome the year 2013 with goals and accomplishments in abundance.

Amy Butler Frenchy Bag

I have continued to dig around in my studio and stumbled across an Amy Butler Frenchy Bag pattern and fabric I purchased at least a couple years ago.  I decided to take a break from my Figgy Pudding quilt for the afternoon and try this pattern out.  The pattern is so easy, and the fabric was fun.  I think this is a perfect accessory to chase away the cold, foggy, and rainy weather we have right now.

UFO Finish It UP

I decided that I must organize my studio.  In doing so, I found this quilt I started way back in 2009 out of the Quilts and More Fall 2009 magazine.  I am using Figgy Pudding by Basic Grey for Moda Fabrics the fabric featured in the Color Option of the magazine.  I tucked the fabric and the first 4 blocks away, only now to discover them again.  A bit late for this Christmas, but an early start on next year.  As I dig around in my studio some more no telling what I might find.

Which runners will she pick?

A friend asked me to make her two runners for Christmas, she says she didn't really have any particular color ideas.  She will pick two of these four.  Which ones are your two favorites?

Bella Table Runner

A couple months ago I purchased this Bella fabric by Lotta Jansdotter of Windham Fabrics from The Intrepid Thread.  (By the way she has the most wonderful fabrics.)  I just could not figure out what to do with it.  So it sat on the floor of my studio for a while.  I recently purchased an International Quilt Festival Quilt Scene magazine and there is was.  Graphic Patchwork Table Runner by Amy Ellis.  I did make a few minor alterations to the pattern.  Once I pieced the runner it still didn't do much for me, but I decided to go ahead and quilt it anyway.  In October I was very blessed to be invited to attend Fall Quilt Market in Houston.  While at Sample Spree I purchased some Wonderfil 12wt thread.  I have never used such thick thread before in my machine, but decided to go ahead and give it a try.  I put in a jeans needle, set my stitch length longer, put regular sewing thread in the bobbin, and using a deep turquoise colored thread quilted the runner in the straight lines you see.  It just makes the runner.  I love it!  I have enough pieces left over to do a second one.  Maybe a gift for one of my daughters' birthdays.  This first one is mine!

The Sugar Block Club

Come join the fun.  You can join by contacting Amy Gibson at her site below.  At the top of her blog is entry into joining the club.  I have done one of her blocks of the month before and it was so much fun.  Come try out this fun activity for the new year.

Rock'n Romance by Pat Bravo Art Gallery

This is the prettiest collection of fabrics.  I can't wait to do something with them.  I purchased them from Julie's online shop at  She has the most wonderful online shop, and is also opening a brick and mortar shop as well.  Any ideas what to do with these?

Well as you can see I am new at all this, so I'll try again and see if I can do this right.  Any suggestions on how to quilt this piece?

Can you see what this might be?
