Westside Block Two

Block two was a challenge with freezer paper templates.  It takes a bit of time, but so worth the end results.

The First Intrepid Thread BOM Block

I just received my fabric today for the first two BOM blocks from Intrepid Thread.  I did add some of my own fabric choices, Melody Miller's Playful line along with the fabric I received.  I hope to do the second block tomorrow.  This fabric is a stretch for me, a bit out of my comfort zone.  I think I really like it.

Gina Martin's Sanibel by Moda

I am so excited.  These beauties arrived yesterday in the mail.  I will be participating in a Blog Hop in April, along with several others.  I can't wait to get started.  Stay tuned between April 6th and 10th, as there will be prizes and additional give aways.  A number of different projects will be featured and tutorials for them as well.
DON'T MISS THE FUN!

Barnstar Quilt

I fell in love with this new pattern by Amy Gibson.  Joel Dewberry fabrics are just the right choice for it too.  I ordered up a few of the prints with a gift certificate given me at Christmas by my VBF.  I know that my New Year's resolution was to not start any new things, but to finish off the old.  Well sometimes temptation is just too much for a girl to handle.

Indigo Blue Japanese Fabrics

I have no idea how many years ago I purchase six dark blue indigo Japanese fabrics.  Some time back I saw an article that suggested one should have an idea box.  You would use it to put pictures, and other creative ideas in it for future use.  A couple days ago I decided to look through my box and do a little bit of clean out.  The problem with this box is it sort of become like a junk drawer.  However, in it were these six fat quarters of fabric, and a little picture of this runner idea.  I took a quick trip down to a local fabric store and found a fabulous fabric with all sorts of variations in it [pictured below].  Once cut into strips it made a perfect accent in between the dark blue blocks along with a lot of variation.  This runner is for my buffet, with a finished size of 18 by 64 inches.  Now I have to quilt it.  Any ideas??????

Intrepid Thread's Block of the Month

I can hardly wait for the first month of my Intrepid Thread's Block of the Month to begin.  I am making the West Side quilt.  But the shop also offered this Metro Area quilt.
It was a hard decision which one to make.  I considered doing both.
The quilts are using Elizabeth Hartman's new book. West Side is using Melody Miller's Cotton & Steel fabrics along with a linen lattice and some additional solids.

I do not know if the shop still has room for more participants.  But this looks like such a fun New Year project it would be worth seeing if you can join in the fun.  You can check it out on the buttons for the Intrepid Thread shop or the West Side BOM on this blog site.

Finish It Up 2015

A 2015 goal is to try to finish up a number of projects that have sat around for too long.  These Alison Glass prints are a favorite of mine.  I made 12 placemats out of them late last year.  This will go nicely as a runner with them.
Here are 7 of the 12 placemats that go with the runner.  The other 5 are repeats of some of the placemates' fabric centers.  I think they will be really pretty on our table for the coming family birthday dinners.

British Flag Quilt

I started this quilt a good two years ago for my granddaughter.  I finally finished off the last four blocks this afternoon.  Now just to  put the blocks in a pleasing arrangement and add a one inch finished lattice between the blocks.  My New Years resolution is to try to finish off the multiple projects that are waiting for finishing.
